We’ve reviewed the steps from contracts signed to panels generating power, but what if your system needs some extra work to get to PTO? Let’s review what an MPU is and what you can expect!
MPU stands for main panel upgrade, which is exactly what the name entails. If the current main panel on your home is outdated or too small to handle your solar system size, you will need an MPU.
An MPU requires involvement from your utility, the contractor, and your city. Once the panels are on and inspected, we can apply for a permit from the city for the MPU. When we have the permit, our contractor schedules a time with you and your utility to come and install the MPU. The utility will come, turn off the power to your home, our contractors will make the upgrade, the work will be inspected, and the power will be turned back on. Once this is complete, you will be back on the standard track to PTO.
Because an MPU requires many schedules to line up, it’s hard to determine how long it will delay your progress. To help avoid any setbacks, Frugll has a team of Account Managers dedicated to moving things along as smoothly as possible.
